Overhanging the sea: The sea caves of Vieste
The caves of the Gargano coast are a sight not to be missed and from the Agriturismo I Tesori del Sud in just 5 minutes by car you can reach the port of Vieste, the starting point for the boat excursion to enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience. Suitable for families, adults, groups, couples and children.
Between Vieste and Mattinata there are many cavities and inlets that can be visited by boat where pines, broom and cistus grow wild and stretch out over the crystalline blue waters.
It was the fishermen who gave the name to the caves, inspired by their very curious shapes. Here are some of the most famous:
Cave Campana, 70 meters high and covered with soft moss.
Cave Contrabbandieri, which has a strategic double exit.
Cave Sfondata, so called because the upper part has collapsed leaving an opening.
Cave Smeralda, with emerald-colored waters which, reflecting in the rock, create a truly suggestive blue atmosphere.
Pomodori’s Cave, full of red molluscs attached along its walls.
Cave Sirene, thought to have once been inhabited by these enchanting creatures of the sea.

Two ancient seaside villages: Vieste and Peschici
Vieste and Peschici are very ancient fishing and agricultural centers whose medieval villages have kept their immense charm intact over the years.
The picturesque Vieste stands on a strip of rock that juts out into the sea. It is exciting to walk through the streets and alleys of the center admiring the typical houses: small white buildings built almost on top of each other. Not to be missed in Vieste: the cathedral, the castle, the trebuchets and the coastal towers.
Peschici develops on a large cliff that directly overlooks the sea. This enchanting village is famous for its many artisan shops and typical restaurants where it is possible to taste the delicacies of the Gargano and purchase local products.
Peschici still retains many Arab elements, symbols of the past incursions of the Moors into this land such as caves dug into the rock and white houses with domed roofs.

Monte Sant’Angelo
This city has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Positioned at 843 meters above sea level, it represents one of the highest points in the Gargano. The whole world knows it because it has always been a destination for pilgrims but also for emperors and popes who came here to kneel there where, still today, the altar dedicated to the Archangel Michael stands.
In fact, it is here that, according to tradition, there would have been the apparitions of the Archangel. The city offers many places to visit in addition to the sanctuary, such as the Norman-Swabian Castle, the Tomb of Rotari, the Pulsano Abbey, the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Temple of Sant'Apollinare.
Also interesting to see are the Rione Junno and the Rione Grotte, the first is a typical medieval neighborhood which has splendid terraced houses, the second is a neighborhood famous for the many passable tunnels dug into the stone.
